Dr. L. Subramaniam
World-renowned violin icon from India, Dr. L. Subramaniam, often referred to as “the Paganini of Indian classical music”, combines the serenity of an Indian musician with the magnetism of a Western rockstar. He began his career as a child-prodigy, performed with the world’s greatest musicians and soon became known as a master of the violin. Dr. Subramaniam has produced, performed, collaborated and conducted around two hundred recordings.
Dr. Subramaniam, founder/director of the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival, the biggest global music festival in India, has performed/recorded Carnatic classical music, Western classical, both orchestral and non-orchestral, composed for and conducted major orchestras, scored for films and ballets, and collaborated with a wide range of some of the world’s greatest musicians from different musical genres. He was musical advisor to Peter Brook for his “Mahabharata”; he composed music for films that include Salaam Bombay and Mississippi Masala and was the featured soloist for Bernardo Bertolucci’s Little Buddha and Merchant–Ivory Productions’ Cotton Mary. He has also composed for the world’s greatest orchestras which include the New York Philharmonic, Zubin Mehta (Fantasy on Vedic Chants), the Kirov Ballet and the Berlin Opera.
Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam
A favourite of both the critics and the masses, Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam’s singing career reads like a fairy tale. Her exquisite voice, wide vocal style and versatility have put her in a unique place amongst contemporary singers.
Kavita has served as a bridge between veterans like Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, and Mohammad Rafi and present-day singers like Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, and Shaan. Her unparalleled voice has taken her all around the world including to the US, UK, Europe, Africa, Australia, Far East, Middle East, South America to perform at prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, London; the Kennedy Centre, Washington D.C.; Madison Square Gardens; the Lincoln Centre, New York. She has received several awards and honours, including the coveted Padma Shri, as well as three consecutive Filmfare awards. Kavita was the main soloist in the Global Fusion album released by Warner Bros., featuring musicians from five continents.
Presidential Symphony Orchestra
The Presidential Symphony Orchestra is one of the oldest orchestras in the world that has been performing seamlessly for decades. The orchestra has collaborated with notable soloists like Andre Navarra, Yehudi Menuhin, Wilhelm Kempff, Joaquin Rodrigo, Alexander Rudin, Jose Carreras and many others.
Besides its periodic concerts, the orchestra has given more than two thousand performances at every corner of Turkey, recorded for TV and educational projects for children and youth, and has pioneered to introduce a strong musical culture in Turkey.
